What began as a hopeful journey to render temporary aid to those in need, became a permanent mission to heal and empower an entire community.
With the support of our donors and volunteers, ServeHAITI has created a healthcare system that is working to transform the lives of Grand-Bois residents.
St. Vincent de Paul Health Center
With the support of our donors, the St. Vincent de Paul Health Center provides primary and acute medical services, dental and malnutrition care, perinatal and obstetric services, optometry, a pharmacy and community health education classes. Led by medical director, Leopold Florent Bourgouin, MD, the Health Center serves over 16,000 patients annually and employs over 50 Haitian medical and support personnel.

Medika Mamba Program
In creole, Medika Mamba means “peanut medicine” and it can mean the difference between life and death for children suffering from malnutrition. The mixture of peanut butter, powdered milk, vegetable oil, vitamins and minerals form a paste that is easy for children as young as six months old to ingest and it provides them with nutrients vital for survival and growth.
On average, there are approximately 10 – 12 children admitted to ServeHAITI’s Medika Mamba program each month. Donors to ServeHAITI can cover the full cost of this life-saving 12-week home-based treatment that includes regular clinic consultations and antibiotics for only $75.

My child was sick and almost died. The community health worker helped bring my baby back to life. I did not know they could give the [fortified] peanut butter. I can see my baby was able to stand up again, crawl, sit up. My baby could not sit before… but now he can sit thanks to God and with God’s grace. Thank you!”

Community Health Workers
For over a decade, ServeHAITI’s Community Health Workers have been overseen by Andre Fritz Jean Louis, lovingly referred to as “Ton Ton Jean” by residents who have come to rely on him and his colleagues to help care for their well-being.

Mother-Baby Program
The Mother-Baby program at St. Vincent dePaul Health Clinic works to overcome these challenges by providing an accessible, safe environment staffed by workers who are members of the Grand-Bois community. Expectant mothers are provided with prenatal visits, ultrasound, delivery and postpartum check-ups. Approximately 40 babies are born at the center each month and their mothers are provided with a “Welcome Baby Kit” that includes items essential to care for a newborn at home.
Total Live Births

I come to the hospital because it is clean and I can rest. I am safe here and so are my babies.
