KINGSLEY CHARTER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
The Discovery Program students at Kingsley, led by Amy Kilbride, found a unique way to raise money for the earthquake victims of Haiti.
Each child made a house-shaped pin, or pins that were pre-sold to parents with the remaining available for sale at Kingsley’s Night of the Arts program held on March 25th. Ms. Kilbride had researched various Haiti organizations and chose ServeHAITI to be the recipient of the $785.00 raised by the student pin sales. These funds will be used in June to purchases school supplies and materials needed to build and restore chalkboards for the local elementary schools in Grand Bois. Most of the schools had property damage during the earthquake and had in fact, never had large wall-mounted chalkboards for the classrooms.
Other schools working on behalf of ServeHAITI and the community of Grand Bois include:
- High Meadows Schools in Atlanta, donated funds to help defray the cost of fuel for the second February trip. Five volunteers were flown in a private plane donated by King Air with 500 pounds of medicine.
- Champion Middle School in Stone Mountain, GA donated a box of much needed hygiene supplies.
