STUDENT FUNDRAISERS IN MICHIGAN

  CUMMINGS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GRANDVILLE, MICHIGAN

After the earthquake in January, second grades teachers, Val Command, Mimi Madden and Kristen Elder at Cummings wanted to raise money for the Haitian community.  Their efforts inspired the entire school to come up with creative ways to do this.
Students paid to participate in “Scarf Day” and “Pajama Day“.  They also held cookie, donut and candy sales.  Their proceeds totaled $1901.08.
Due to a personal connection to Roger Berens, a volunteer with ServeHAITI, the money raised was used to purchase the medicine Roger brought to Haiti on our second trip in February.  A $500.00 contribution in the name of Kathryn Clark was donated directly through our website. All of the students at Cummings volunteered their time to sort and pack the medicine.
